Community Groups - Overview


Community groups and organisations make a vital contribution to housing in New Zealand. The Government is committed to supporting them to increase their involvement in providing social housing.

The main vehicle for this is the Housing Innovation Fund. The Fund has enabled a number of community groups to build, buy or plan for new housing in areas of high need.

The Housing Innovation Fund also led to the establishment of Community Housing Aotearoa - an umbrella organisation for the not-for-profit community housing sector.

Talbot Park Community Renewal - walking the talk

2006 is a big year for Talbot Park. Earlier in the year the first four 3-bedroom houses were completed. These houses represent the changing face of Housing New Zealand.
