Housing Innovation Fund 2009/10
1 July 2009

Submissions are now being called for the 2009/10 Housing Innovation Fund. The Government has confirmed $20 million for the Housing Innovation Fund. Of this, $15 million will be available under a general fund, while up to $5 million will be used for innovative housing solutions for Māori.

Delivering pathways to home ownership

Housing Minister Phil Heatley has announced that state house tenants will be able to buy their homes from September, if the house meets certain criteria.

If you are a tenant and would like to find out if your house is one you can buy, please register your interest by calling 0800 801 601, or email your name, address, and phone number to saleofstatehouses@hnzc.co.nz. We will contact you once the initiative has been launched in September.

House of the Year 2009 - local galas
3 June 2009

There are five entries in this year's Housing New Zealand Community Development Award and each will fight for a top spot in the upcoming local galas.

Waipukurau Construction Ltd, Horncastle Homes Ltd, Glenroy Housing Ltd and Grayway Construction Ltd have all entered the category, which Housing New Zealand sponsors as part of the annual Registered Master Builders' House of the Year competition.

Contractor registration

The building industry will be aware that as part of its economic stimulus package Government announced on 11 February 2009 that $124.5m of new funding will be allocated to Housing New Zealand to build new state homes and improve existing ones across the country.  

From July 2009 - June 2010, additional resources will be required and this will involve a range of contractors around the country. Find out more and register your contact details with us now.
