Housing Improvements and Development
Hobsonville
An innovative urban sustainable community is being planned for Hobsonville in Auckland.
The Hobsonville Land Company (HLC) - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Housing New Zealand - is facilitating this development at the former Hobsonville airbase site in north-west Auckland.
Our vision is a development for the entire community - one that responds to Auckland's future population growth and one that will be a great place to live and work.
We are working towards a community that provides a full range of housing, including affordable housing and some state housing. The overall development will provide for schools, employment, heritage areas and reserves.
Subject to planning and resource consents, it will provide about 3,000 homes, including up to 15% (about 500 homes) for affordable home ownership, and up to 15% (about 500 homes) as state rental social housing.
The site has tremendous potential as a sense of destination, supported by plans for a ferry service. This is at least a 10 year project, subject to planning consents.
