Exminster Street redevelopment nears completion

Progress at the complex by mid-April.
Progress at the complex by mid-April.

The redevelopment of the Exminster Street pensioner complex in Blockhouse Bay is nearly finished.

The pensioner complex was rundown and empty when Housing New Zealand bought the units from Auckland City Council in 2003.

Since then is has been demolished and work is nearly complete building 22 brand new modern brick and tile one and two bedroom units.

Former tenants have been given the option to return to the units. It is expected the complex will be fully completed and ready to tenant by late July.

The redevelopment is part of Housing New Zealand's work to upgrade most of the pensioner housing.
