Winner - Housing New Zealand Community Development Award


An HNZC property up for a gold award.

Cox & Sweetman Builders Limited won the 2006 Housing New Zealand Community Development Award for a property in Paraparaumu.

The property was one of three selected as a gold reserve finalist in the Housing New Zealand Community Development award in the Registered Master Builders 2006 House of the Year in association with PlaceMakers.

The Housing New Zealand Community Development award promotes the construction of good quality social housing.
The House of the Year awards recognise homes built above industry standard:

  • Bronze is awarded for properties judged at least 50 percent above industry standard
  • Silver is awarded for properties judged at least 65 percent above industry standard
  • Gold is awarded for properties judged at least 80 percent above industry standard

The award is open for new or renovated housing owned by local councils, the government or other organisations that provide housing for people that have special or support needs. 

It can include housing for older people, homes leased to the government or housing for people with special needs. 

Builders are invited to enter renovation projects with a value in excess of $100,000 or new buildings meeting the criteria outlined above.
