Welcome Home First Steps


Our Welcome Home First Steps course explains everything you need to know about owning your first home before you buy. The course is free, and includes the following learning modules:

  • Is home ownership right for you?
  • Goal setting and budgeting
  • The home buying process
  • Getting a home loan
  • Financial assistance for first home-buyers
  • Building a home and affordable house design
  • Maintaining your home and refinancing

Housing New Zealand is changing the way its home ownership programme is delivered. It will be delivered online and via tailored workshops in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch only. This is to ensure it is targeted to those who can go on to own their own home. The website will be updated by 16 July.
